A fine get-away resort.
We think the tiled floor in our room might have been polished or waxed just before we arrived, because our socks rapidly became filthy. A pity they did not properly remove the residue. Don't think it was dirt. Other areas being similarly treated at the time.
This is a great get-away-from-it-all experience. Miles from anywhere, so you are fully immersed in what they have to offer. Rustic ambiance, but the rooms are comfortable and well air-conditioned. Meals were good and hearty, but not spectacular. We enjoyed the horse-riding; calm horses good for novices. Tractor rides also around the farm. Lots of possible activities for families. Very quiet when we were there - only one other couple. Lots of bird and animal life; even saw rheas, an armadillo and a skunk.

The location is incredible, but the food options, mediocre
We booked only the room, incl. breakfast, and the rest separately, which meant that we had to pay for dinner US$ 40 per person. For that amount - and everyone who paid inclusive - the dinner was not the value worth. An open salad buffet, with ok options for being a starter, but the main course only consisted of grilled meat from the parilla, nothing extra included, except for dessert later. And breakfast was sparse as well; several sweetened pastries, some bread, ham, cheese, jams and peanut butter and some fruits. What we received for the value was to us not worth the dinner at all.
The location is spectacular! In the middle of nowhere land, surrounded by horse, cows and meadows. The estancia itself looked very impressive, with different buildings and peacocks roaming the area.

Relaxing, pleasant and tasty :)
We had a wonderful weekend at San Pedro del Timote. Excellent service, absolutely calm and private, delicious food, respectful and extremely nice staff, beautiful landscapes. Relaxing, clean, tidy, organized, comfortable beds and Big bedrooms! It's the perfect country house from my point of view.

Great place to relax
We arrived on a Sunday and left on Tuesday. We had the whole Estancia for ourselves which was amazing. The staff was great and treated us incredibly! Great place to relax. 2 nights there is the ideal! The place itself is amazing, its history and farm animals. Beto is amazing with great stories.

Rustic and charming but not very clean.
We had no water in our room for most of the stay. The place was not very clean, lots of dead insects (understandably when in 'el campo') but nobody cleaning them up. There didn't appear to be anyone in charge and the staff lacked training in hotel management. There was an error made on the bill also; we were overcharged on the extras due to an incorrect currency conversion rate being applied.
The setting is absolutely beautiful, charming and it's a lovely place to relax and take in the rural Uruguayan countryside. The staff were very friendly although not all were competent. We had an unexpected visitor to the dining room on the Friday night, in the form of a snake!

Good experience but a little disappointing
The room was not comfortable, bed moved and double bed was actually made of two beds that would separate during the night creating a gap between the two. Sheets and blankets were poor and towels were sometimes stained. Hot water was warm at best, cool sometimes and water pressure was bad. Certain areas were dirty, like the children's area for example. The pools were not clean. Most activities, specially kids activities don't happen, unless you insistently ask for them. In general the experience is good but I think it doesn't live up to its reputation and specially to what one might expect for the price.
The place and its history is amazing and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was pretty good although not very varied.
